ABOUT Vikings

Vikings is a historical drama television series created and written by Michael Hirst for the History channel. Filmed in Ireland, it premiered on March 3, 2013 and concluded on December 30, 2020 after six seasons and a total of 89 episodes.

Vikings is inspired by the sagas of the Viking Ragnar Lodbrok, one of the best known legendary Norse heroes and notorious as the scourge of England and France. The show portrays Ragnar as a farmer who rises to fame with successful forays into England who becomes a Scandinavian king, with the help of his family and his warriors. In recent seasons, the series follows the fortunes of his children and his adventures in England, Scandinavia and the Mediterranean.

Vikings synopsis

The series is inspired by the tales of the Norsemen of the high Scandinavian Middle Ages. Broadly, it follows the exploits of the legendary Viking chieftain Ragnar Lodbrok (Travis Fimmel) and his crew, family and descendants, as set out in the 13th century sagas Ragnars saga loðbrókar and Ragnarssona þáttr, as well as in the Gesta Danorum of the 12th century of Saxo Grammaticus. The Norse legendary sagas were partially fictional tales based on the Norse oral tradition, written between 200 and 400 years after the events they describe. It draws inspiration especially from historical sources of the time, such as the records of the Viking raid on Lindisfarne depicted in the second episode, or Ahmad ibn Fadlan's account of the 10th century varangios. The series begins at the beginning of the Viking Age, marked by the Lindisfarne Raid in 793.

Vikings IS WORTH TO WATCH

There isn't a single person on the planet who hasn't heard of this film. The cast also does an excellent job in their parts. Before you read this review and before I give you any spoilers about the plot, I strongly advise you to watch the film. It's nearly impossible not to like Vikings. The plot is well-crafted, the pacing is excellent, and all of the performers provide outstanding performances. Because of how excellent it was, it film stands out in my mind. Maybe it's because I wasn't expecting it. I strongly advise everyone to watch this film; you will not be disappointed.
