The land of the greedy samurai warlord Daigo Kagemitsu is dying, and he will do anything for power, even giving up on Buddha and making a pact with the devil. His prayers are answered by 12 demons, who grant him the power he desires by supporting the growth of his district, but at a cost. When Kagemitsu's first son was born, he had no limbs, no nose, no eyes, no ears, not even skin - but he survived.
This child was thrown into the river and forgotten. But fortunately, he is saved by a medic, who provides him with prosthetics and weapons, allowing him to survive and protect himself. The boy lived and grew, and although he couldn't see, hear or feel anything, he had to defeat the demons that had sacrificed him. With each person's death, he regains a part of himself that should have been his. For many years he wandered alone, until one day an orphan boy, Dororo, befriended him. The incapable castrated couple now fights for their survival and humanity in an unforgivable, demonic world.

Older classics from history books going back to the modern day seem to be one of MAPPA's favorites in recent years. We've had Ushio to Tora from Summer 2015 and more recently Banana Fish from Summer 2018. Dororo's remake under the auspices of MAPPA has made an outstanding impression and offers plenty of reasons to bring the works. Old classics return. What a time to live in this timeline.
The original series aired about 50 years ago in the late 1960s. Most of us probably wouldn't have lived at the time to see this older timer. Manga with content revolving around ghosts seems to be a popular trend among children that day.
